Yesterday was overcast but oh so warm so when it started to rain Simon immediately asked for his rain boots and an umbrella. He proceeded to walk down to our garage as he knows there is always big muddy puddles down in the alley when it rains. I love his enthusiasm for life and the joy I get to see on his face in such simple things. Thanks to Peppa Pig he LOVES muddy puddles and whenever he sees a puddle he WILL jump in it no matter what we are doing or where we are at. So, we jumped in muddy puddles for a while just because.
Yesterday had also been a rough day as I has been pondering some really hard things and longing for understanding in my heart. I was doing dishes as Simon and daddy stayed down to play in the puddles and I looked out the window and gasped as I saw the most beautiful rainbow. Of course, the most perfect worship song just happened to be playing and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t tear up for a moment as I stared at that rainbow and thanked my great God for his goodness and hopeful promises.
It’s funny how muddle puddles and rainbows can go hand in hand and I’m thankful for those few moments of being drawn back to my heavenly Father’s comforting arms and for a little boy who showed me how to find joy.
