Wow! I can’t believe that I am making my last post for 2015. It really can’t be New Years Eve already!?!? How did it sneak up on me so quickly? I didn’t even get to wish you all a Merry Christmas, which maybe i’m not completely sorry about because this Christmas was the best yet as we had our newest addition finally home to enjoy the Holiday season with. Looking back over the last year I can’t help but reminisce on the goodness and love that I have experienced as I became a mom. We accepted our son’s referral knowing there was a possibility medically he may need assistance with walking or for that fact may never walk at all. We were beyond blessed to see what the Lord was going to do in our son’s life as we miraculously watched our son take his first steps. While we were in Uganda, within a week of having him in our care full time, he began to walk…a miracle we had prayed for since we saw his precious face in a photo 8 months prior. We spent 9 wonderful weeks in Uganda and were forever changed in how we see the world. Uganda is the “pearl of Africa” in every sense of the word.
I will forever miss their fresh bananas, mangoes, pineapples and avocados when I eat them here in lovely Pennsylvania. They just don’t compare one iota once you eat them ripe off the trees. Period. And those bright white smiles of the Ugandans are etched into my mind forever. They have some of the most joyful spirits of any people group I have met even despite hardships and often times, poverty. We cannot wait to go back again some day to soak in some more Ugandan culture into our lives. We are so grateful for our village and all of you who have walk along side of us and encouraged us through this adoption journey…but mostly we thank our awesome God for allowing us to love and nurture this little boy we now call our son.
Being in Uganda for just over 2 months and finally becoming a family of three wasn’t just the main highlight of my year. I’ve also created many many fond memories as I photographed some gorgeous weddings, celebrated new life and belly laughed with some wonderful families. It is an immense honor to be a part of capturing your beautiful life stories but I think one of the things that moved me the most this year is seeing with new eyes the way life is so perfectly created. When I see those tiny fingernails of a newborn, see the joy in a baby’s face as they figure out how to do something new or watch two people unite their lives together in marriage, I just can’t help but smile in my heart at how beautiful and wondrous life truly is. I want to thank you all for entrusting me with your precious memories and stories and for allowing me a tiny glimpse into your hearts. It is something I cherish everyday and am so thankful I get to do what I do as a photographer.
So, today I share with you my final post of the year…a very belated Happy Holidays and a very Happy New Year. I can’t wait to see what 2016 brings for you and yours and I look forward to documenting many more incredible and beautiful life stories.
So without further ado, I introduce you to Baby E…the cutest little reindeer there ever was this Christmas!
Sometime in the new year, I hope to share with you a special post with some of my absolute favorite images from the year so stay tuned!
