“Things never go the way you expect them to. That’s both the joy and frustration in life. I’m finding as I get older that I don’t mind, though. It’s the surprises that tickle me the most, the things you don’t see coming.”
-Michael Stuhlbarg
One of the best surprises has got to be finding out the gender of a baby. There are those who like the surprise of seeing that tiny body emerge into the world for the first time and then there are those who love the surprise before the babe even makes their appearance. Either way, when you hear those words “its a…” that moment of suspense leaves you dancing to get a little glimpse into who this tiny person will become. Your heart skips a beat because finally…the surprise is revealed! Your heart can rest and enjoy the beautiful moments that follow as you dream of the beautiful little life that will have an astounding impact on the world.
For the Lebo family, they couldn’t wait to find out the gender of their second baby because they wanted to share with family and friends like they did with their first daughter, Claire. After photographing Becca and Dan’s wedding then Claire’s newborn session, I have come to admire this family’s adventurous and eager spirit. It was no surprise when they contacted me to do a gender reveal because I knew these two couldn’t wait to find out their baby’s gender!
Becca knew she wanted Claire to be involved in the reveal and that they wanted to use blue and pink balloons. The challenge was finding a way keep her from letting go of the wrong color balloon. We decided to tie a key to the one she was supposed to hold onto. We got set up and ready for the reveal….and then we waited… and waited…and waited for Claire to let go of the balloons.
Claire was so excited about the balloons that she didn’t want to let go of either!
Finally, after a little encouragement…she finally let go, and the balloons that were left were….
…PINK!!! It’s another girl!! (I secretly squealed inside with excitement because I’ve had a slew of baby boys in the studio lately!)Claire is going to adore having a little sister to play with! I wonder if little sister will look anything like her Big Sister…ekkk! I can’t wait to meet her soon. Come on baby…we’re waiting for you.
