This past fall I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph this beautiful family. Jenna and I met a while back at a yard sale fundraiser they were having that had been put together through some mutual adoptive moma friends. Jenna and I kept in touch and she has since become a cherished encouragement to me as my hubby and I wait for a referral ourselves. These guys have beautiful hearts and I couldn’t be more excited for them as they are now expecting baby #3 too! :)
Here is their story in Jenna’s words:
“God has a heart for orphans and He has given us a great love for them, too. Our pursuit of adoption was merely extending the same grace and mercy to an orphan that we received from God when He adopted us into His family.
“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” James 1:27
In April of 2011, the Lord laid adoption on our hearts. We are all called to care for the orphans in some form. For our family, we believe one of the ways is by adoption. God put a great love in our hearts for those children with no family of their own. We have room in our home and room in our hearts- instead of asking ourselves why we would adopt, we started to ask ourselves, why wouldn’t we? After much prayer, we decided to pursue an Ethiopian adoption. In October of 2012, we were matched with our precious son, Asher Michael. We brought him home from Ethiopia in February of 2013. We have learned so much about God’s love throughout this whole process. Asher is SUCH a gift to our family!””
