It was a joy to hang out with this beautiful family in celebration of adoption! I loved finding out their story of how they came to adopt sweet little Sydney. Hear it first hand from Mrs. French from an email she had sent me when she first inquired about a session:
“I began praying that God would show me how He wanted us to live out the Bible verse of caring for widows and orphans nearly two years before we met our daughter. God put adoption on my heart and I began praying that if it was His will, He would move some big mountains in order for that to happen. We lived in a small home, had a small vehicle and three other children. We also did not have the reserved funding for an adoption and my husband was not completely sold on the idea. But God worked and began moving each of these mountains in His time. We initially checked into international adoption but never felt a peace about a specific country. Meanwhile, my mother-in-law who lives in New York, became the foster parent to a little girl who would, unbeknownst to me, soon become our daughter! When Sydney was about 7 months old, my mother-in-law informed us that the birth parents were going to sign off their rights and asked if we would be interested in adopting her. After praying about it, we felt that this was the answer to our prayers! We became certified in the foster-care system not knowing if we would even be chosen to be her parents. After a long battle of paperwork and interstate adoption red-tape, we were finally able to make her an official part of our family just 10 days before her second birthday.”
I sort of wish we could have included some shots with grandma also since she had an integral part of caring for Sydney while in foster care, but NY was a bit too far away for us to do so :)
It is my pleasure to introduce you to the French Family!
