Our Favorite Spring Styles

I submit that there are few things cuter than warm weather children’s clothes. The rompers, the tiny baby sandals, the eyelet dresses…I can’t get enough!  The recent summer temperatures inspired me to check out the latest fashion trends to prepare for the upcoming season.  During my research (a.k.a. shopping) I found lots of nautical themes, horizontal stripes, and florals. I loved the soothing blues paired with cheerful and rosy pinks.  We did a mini photoshoot with some of our favorite spring styles. Simon couldn’t contain his excitement, and lil’ Miss Isla worked for the camera just as much!

Here are five fashion tips to help you make the most out of your spring/summer photo sessions:

  1. Coordinate Colors
Let’s take a moment of silence for the the days of matching white t-shirts and jeans.  Instead, pick a few colors that pop and use them sparingly throughout. I’ve found that picking different outfits from the same store can help, as they tend to have seasonal color collections.
  2.  Don’t be Afraid of Texture
In my opinion, layering different textures and materials adds so much dimension to your photos. In our sample photo shoot, we used denim, linen, cotton, and suede (with a fun fringe!).
  3. Pair Patterns
Mixing patterns can be a bit of a balancing act.  I like to break up multiple prints with a solid or accessorize with a patterned shoe or scarf.  The name of the game is to let your family’s style shine!
  4. Consider Your Home Decor
If you plan on hanging a canvas in a calm and neutral room, you might want to steer away from fluorescents and character tees.  However, using the same accent color in your living room in a cardigan or sandal would be a great way to incorporate elements of your decor.
  5. Showcase your child’s personality
I like to think that the choices we make in what we wear speak volumes about our own essence. If your child is spunky and loves to entertain, you might try bright, bold colors. Conversely, soothing tones might be a better choice for a quiet observer.  A kiddo that is comfortable and happy with how he/she looks will have more fun in front of the camera. :)

Spring Linen Dress Outfit

Isla’s first spring outfit layered a timeless denim jacket over a linen striped cut-out dress. I couldn’t pass up the neutral fringe sandals, I mean…c’mon now. To top it off,  we added a Baby Bling Bow headband – a favorite of mine because they are  one size fits all and they grow along with your little lady.

Smiley Simon wore a coordinating graphic muscle tank, with a textured zip-up hoodie that is perfect for cooler temperatures.  And who can resist a little boy with cuffed jeans? Nicola’s little man loves his model poses!

White Stitch Top with Bloomers Outfit

Isla’s second ensemble featured an adorable stitched and chambray one-piece. The vintage-looking details made this outfit a fast favorite.  To add a bit of color, we picked out some pale pink leather sandals, and a sweet, petite felt bow.

FAVORITE SPRING STYLESWe had so much fun snapping some springtime fashion favorites.  Soon it was time to pack up and call it a day, although Isla was much too distracted by Simon’s wiggly toes to think about lunch! :)
